President's Message
Welcome to this Newsletter of the Rotary Club of Botany Randwick Inc. Our club has been serving the local and international community since 1948.
Rotary promotes the ideal of service through fellowship. Attending our meetings allows members to enjoy the fellowship of other club members, enrich their professional and personal knowledge, and meet other business leaders in their community.
As a Club we support a wide range of projects. As well as having a broad range of local and international community projects, we are particularly focused on the Rotary projects, Australian Rotary Health, Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) and Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC) together with The Rotary Foundation.
We welcome everyone to come along to any of our meetings to join in the fellowship and to learn more about what we do.
Our first meeting of the year will see our president, Simon, outline some of our initiatives for 2025 - there is a lot coming up!
Our guest speaker will be Alanna Duggan, Corporate and Community Partnerships Manager, and Patrick Calabria, Head of Corporate and Community Partnerships from Lifeline (Bondi) coming to the meeting.
This will set the scene for our major joint initiative with them to develop a number of community capacity building/training courses.
Note: We had been planning to hold this meeting on Wednesday 28 January, but this has now been moved forward. Our apologies for any inconvenience.
Our last meeting
It seems a long time ago!!
Our very enjoyable Christmas Party was held way back on 11 December. It was a great night !!!
Unfortunately, your scribe was too busy enjoying the night to take notes or photos!!
We had been planning to hold a social "gathering" on 15 January, but this proved more difficult to organise than originally envisaged, with too many people either away or otherwise engaged over the holiday period.
.
Proudly Partnered with Sydney Airports Corporation

Congratulations to Jesse Aldridge on being awarded the 2024 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Early Career Professional of the Year Award.
This award is given to a current IAHA (Indigenous Allied Health Australia) Full Member (Graduate) who has graduated from an allied health degree within the past 5 years, who demonstrates cultural responsiveness, dedication, and a positive contribution to their own development and to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, through their works in health or related sectors and/or their profession and/or their community.
In Australia, Domestic and Family Violence (DV) is disturbingly common. It is one of the drivers of homelessness among women, children and men. Domestic and Family Violence crosses all boundaries, race, age, financial status, education, sex and the suburb you may live in.
Many victims of Domestic and Family Violence will never report their experience. With many incidents unreported, Domestic, and Family Violence may be much worse than we think.
