Our theme for the night was International Service.
Our first speaker was our own member, Peter Gleeson, who outlined his proposal to fund refurbishment of St John's primary school in Uganda.
Peter's family has formed the AMPE Foundation, registered as a charity, to progress this project. he highlighted severe overcrowding, poor infrastructure including lack of accommodation for teachers, making recruitment difficult, and significant security issues, particularly for girls.
Peter's proposed solution involves a two-stage renovation plan, and he is seeking funding from business, churches and Rotary, and ensuring community involvement and ownership. He has a local team, including Rotarians, to ensure long-term sustainability and alignment with Rotary's areas of focus.
We then welcomed Myra Castellani-Hegarty, the District 9675 Chair of Rotary Australia Works Community Service (RAWCS). Myra gave an outline of the work of RAWCS and the steps needed to register Peter's project.
To round out the night Jasmine Avanti, Past President of the Rotary Club of Kandy, Sri Lanka gave us a presentation on the very impressive achievements of her Club during her year as President.

Since our last meeting …
Members of our Club assisted as marshals for the recent Sydney Marathon. This was a great fundraiser, with each participant gaining an $80 donation towards our Club's projects.
