President's Message

Welcome to this Newsletter of the Rotary Club of Botany Randwick Inc.  Our club has been serving the local and international community since 1948.

Rotary promotes the ideal of service through fellowship. Attending our meetings allows members to enjoy the fellowship of other club members, enrich their professional and personal knowledge, and meet other business leaders in their community.

As a Club we support a wide range of projects. As well as having a broad range of local and international community projects, we are particularly focused on the Rotary projects, Australian Rotary Health, Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) and Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC) together with The Rotary Foundation.

We welcome everyone to come along to any of our meetings in 2023, to join in the fellowship and to learn more about what we do.

Next Meeting - Wednesday 8 May 2024

At this meeting we will hear of the great work of The Deli Women and Children's Centre, which is based in Bunnerong Road at Matraville.  "The Deli" has been supporting woman and children impacted by family and domestic violence for over 40 years.

"The Deli's" goal is simple – to make sure that everyone who walks through our doors feels safe, supported and heard.

They believe that strong families and communities are built on the foundation of safety and wellbeing, and we work hard every day to make that happen.

Our last meeting

Our President Elect, Simon, addressed our last meeting outlining some of his vision for his upcoming year.  These included creating a calendar of fundraising initiatives, continuing our successful relations with our fundraising at Sydney Airport in conjunction with Rotary Marrickville, a change to our meeting formats, future interesting guest speakers and a focus on growing a younger membership base.

Peter Hamer also gave a brief presentation on his recent RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Service) trip to the Philippines.  In conjunction with Rotary Burwood they educated young persons on the importance of preventing unplanned pregnancies and its impact on young women’s educational outcomes and future.

Peter will give a full presentation, where we can also invite members of the Rotary Club of Marrickville, who also donated to this RAWCS project.

Proudly Partnered with Sydney Airports Corporation

Rotary Information

Rotary Theme for May - Youth Service

May is Rotary's International Youth Service Month, when the focus is on young people and the development of the next generation of leaders.

Our programs help younger leaders build leadership skills, expand education and learn the value of service.

Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs.

Our Club is very active in this area of service, supporting programs such as:
  • RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, a week-long personal development program for emerging leaders aged 18 to 26
  • RYPEN - a weekend personal development program for school students aged about 15
  • NYSF - National Youth Science Forum, a two-week program for Year 11 students with an interest in STEM.

The Four Way Test

The Four-Way Test is a non-partisan, non-sectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships.

Of the things we think, say or do:
  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
