A lovely night of fun and fellowship with members of Campsie and Marrickville Rotary Clubs.
First up we enjoyed drinks and dinner at the adjacent Newmarket Hotel, our old meeting venue. We then adjourned upstairs to the Ten Pin Superbowl to be fitted out with shoes and balls.
Then followed the fun, with a broad mix of atrocious bowls bouncing and landing in the gutter within seconds, to sheer brilliant deliveries and strikes. Julie even did her best to follow her ball down the alley! We were lucky to have our own cheer squad of supporters!
In all a great night.
Since our last meeting ...
We recently made several donations to local deserving causes:
1. The Deli Women and Children's Centre. We received a lovely note of thanks from Leila, the General Manager:
A big thank you to you and everyone at the Rotary Club of Botany Randwick for your incredibly generous $2,000 donation. We truly appreciate your support—it means so much to all of us here at The Deli.
As discussed with Jennifer, your donation will go directly toward running our Managing Angry Adolescents Differently (MAAD) Parenting Group this August. It’s a powerful program that supports mums who’ve experienced domestic and family violence to reconnect with their teens and build more peaceful, respectful relationships at home.
2. Sydney Children's Hospital School. Past President Christine attended a recent school assembly to present our donation, who reported:
I attending the POW Children's Hospital School's very first School Assembly on Monday 16 June, where I presented our Club's donation to the School.
I was warmly welcomed by their Princiapal, Ms Elizabeth and other teachers. Ms Elizabeth conducted the assembly and awarded many students with Certificates of Merit from both the Primary School and High School. The students who were unable to leave the hospital beds were hooked up via a "teams/zoom" call where they participated in the assembly.
There were several presentations by students, some of which included the reading of a picture book by a Year 3 student and we listened to a beautiful piano piece by Roger, a Year 11 Student.
Our Club's donation will go towards building a kitchen garden for the school and then the vegetables will be used in the School's cooking classes.
